 The Values of Jesus
1. Define the term ‘Beatitude’.
Eight statements set down by Jesus. They are concerned with virtue and how a believer in Jesus Christ can achieve that virtue.
2. Explain the purpose of the beatitudes.
The purpose of the beatitudes is to direct us in the following of the ways of the Lord. They can in other words be seen as rules, that mainly giudes us through the proper path of life, the life that Jesus led.
3. Select ONE beatitude and describe how inspiring people of faith put into practice the teachings of Jesus. Use an example to support your answer.
“Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.”
Inspiring people of faith put this beatitude into practise by helping the homless or possibly going over seas to other people in poverty stricken places. These inspiring people of faith help with the feeding of young children and their families, so everyone may have a better life.
Eg. Mother Theresa helped the people in poverty who were struggling for food and shelter and gave them the provisions that were essential for a growing child.
